Edward Lother Raasch

Funeral services for Edward Raasch, Jr. will be held Thursday April 5th at 11:00 AM at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. The Reverend Tom Isaacson will officiate. Mr. Raasch, 80, of Zumbrota, died Sunday April 1, 2012 at his home in Zumbrota following a lengthy illness. Burial, with military honors provided by the Zumbrota VFW, will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery.
Edward Lother Raasch, Jr. was born June 10, 1931 in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County, the son of Edward and Celia Raasch. He lived most of his life in the Zumbrota area. He grew up in rural Zumbrota, and attended country schools. Working at Tilly's Service Station in Zumbrota, he then enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served his country during the Korean War. Returning home, he married Delaine Henning on July 3, 1954 in Belividere. The couple made their home in Zumbrota. Mr. Raasch worked a couple of years at Graico in Minneapolis, and then worked three years at the elevator in Zumbrota. He became a part owner of the Blue Goose, and remained involved in that business for seventeen years. He then worked at the Zumbrota golf course, and then for many years at Bob Seely Ford.
Mr. Raasch was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, and the Zumbrota VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Delaine Raasch, of Zumbrota; a daughter, Elaine Hanenberger of West Concord; a son, Jim (Brenda) Raasch of Zumbrota; seven grandchildren, Jenny (Scott) McCutcheon, Alli (Kurt) Ronningen, Justin, Billie Jo, and Brandon Hanenberger, Jessica and Angie Raasch; eleven great-grandchildren, Alex and Kayla McCutcheon, Knute and Aislynn Ronningen, Henry, Isabel, Kaylin, Ian, Kameron, Cheaton, and Brennon Hanenberger; a sister, Lucille (James ‘Bud') McWaters of Zumbrota; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Santelman. Also surviving are cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Raasch; a great-grandson, Payton McCutcheon; a brother, Melvin Raasch; and three sisters, Marcella Santelman, Evelyn Betcher, and Marion Pementel.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel, in Zumbrota. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
