Edward J. Olson

Edward J. Olson, age 92, of Euless, Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 22, 2011 at Odyssey House in Fort Worth, Texas. Edward was born on January 24, 1919, in Driscoll, North Dakota, the son of Olaf and Edith Olson. In his early days, he graduated from Red Wing Central High School, worked in the tannery and married his high school sweetheart Etta Mae Vollmers. Edward joined the United States Air Force and served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam before retiring as a Lt. Colonel. After retiring from the Air force they moved to Euless, Texas where he resided with Etta Mae for over thirty years. Edward and Etta Mae were active in the local Episcopal Church, enjoyed gardening and being with their family and friends. Edward was an avid sports fan and golfer. Etta Mae preceded him in death 3 years ago.

Edward is survived by his son Gary and his wife Cindy, granddaughter Shannon Belanger and her husband Scott, and their daughters Sarah Grace and Skylar Nicole.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing with military honors provided by the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
