Edward E. Murray, age 95, of Mountain Top, PA formerly of Oronoco, MN, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Oronoco Presbyterian Church with Pastor Lisa Johnson officiating. The visitation will be on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Oronoco Cemetery with Military Honors.
Edward Earl Murray was born in Pine Island to William and Ina (Fischer) Murray on September 9, 1922. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Edward entered the United States Army In 1944 and served during WWII and the Korean War era. Edward married Shirley Brown on August 8, 1944 in Rochester. He started working as a laborer as part of the Laborer's Union and retired after 50 years in the mid 1980s. He was also a business agent for the AFL-CIO Laborers Union. Edward helped his son, Roger mow grass and maintain the Oronoco Cemetery until 2011. He has spent the last six years residing in PA under the care of his daughter, Terri. Edward was a member of the Laborers Union #405, Swanson-Owens VFW Post # 9647 in Oronoco.
Edward enjoyed playing cards, tinkering with lawn mowers, making wood crafts, and spending time with family.
Edward is survived by his children, Michael (Priscilla), David (Margaret), Roger, Steven (LuAnn) Murray and Terri (Robert) Yatison; 10 grandchildren, Tina, Mickey, Eddie, Holly, Amy, Andrea, Denise, Eric, Kirsten, and Zach; 21 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and sister, Georgia Fahy.
Edward was preceded by his wife, Shirley; grandson, Davey; daughter-in-law, Linda; seven brothers; seven sisters; and his parents.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Sacred Heart Hospice for all of their wonderful care, to our men and women in uniform serving our country, and to those who have served our country in the past. We honor you today and every day. God Bless.
