Edward Leroy Lawrence

Edward Leroy Lawrence, age 68 of Red Wing, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec 21 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Red Wing on July 2, 1946 to Vincent and Dorothy Lawrence. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1964 and attended University of Wisconsin River Falls, Winona State University and Rochester Junior College. He was a member of the national guard in the late 60's and early 70's.
He married Catherine (Kitty) Haase on August 27, 1971 in Lake City, MN. He learned the construction trade at a young age working for his dad, after attending college he went into business with his friend Arne Kann. He had many construction related ventures throughout the years. At various times he partnered with both his brothers and also Larry Schumacher in the construction business. Eddie loved what he did and became friends with everyone he built a home for. Eddie had a love for classic cars. He loved visiting with people, especially those who shared a passion for classic cars.
He is survived by his wife Kitty of Red Wing; son Ryan of Red Wing; daughter Sarah (Tad) Jellison of Minnetonka; brother Charles (Debbie) Lawrence of Diamond Bluff, WI ; sister Debra (Chuck) Fanslow of Red Wing; sister-in-law, Vicki Lawrence plus a large extended family.
He is preceded in death by both his parents Vincent and Dorothy Lawrence; and his brother Jeff Lawrence.
Memorial service will be 12 noon, Friday, January 2, 2015 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Jack Nordgaard officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice. Online condolences may be sent to www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
