Edward Joseph Grant II, 90, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at the Mayo Clinic Red Wing Health Systems. He was born February 21, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, and spent his early childhood living in Cuba. His family then moved to California, where he lived for most of his life. Ed earned his bachelor's degree at the University of San Francisco and taught Spanish and Italian for 40 plus years, retiring in 2005. He was married to his first wife, Teresa Fisher, from 1954-1973. He then was united in marriage to Viola Grim on December 4, 1976. He and Viola moved to Red Wing in 2010, and she passed away in 2014. Ed was a sports enthusiast throughout his life, cheering on the New York Yankees, San Francisco 49ers, and the Golden State Warriors. He also enjoyed horse racing, attending outdoor outings, his cat January, and the many friends he had while living at the Plaza and St. Crispin Living Community in Red Wing. He was life-long catholic and enjoyed attending mass.
He is survived by five sons, Eric and his wife Kathy, Brian, Gail, Barry and his wife Geseell, and Edward Jr., and his wife Lynitra; three stepdaughters, Deborah Gloria, Diana (Bruce) Rasmussen and Denise Van Deusen and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Joseph Grant, Sr., and Pauline Parker; his two wives, and one sister Dagmar.
