Edward Ernest Bath, Jr., 81, Red Wing, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born September 16, 1929 in Winona, MN, the son of Edward E. and Lydia M. (Jaskola) Bath, Sr. and attended school in Winona. He married Eleanor Marie Fjeldahl on February 18, 1950 in Red Wing. He worked at the Clay Pits and at Riedell. In 1964 he began working as a police officer in Mazeppa, and in 1969 he began serving as chief of police in Plainview. From 1973-1988 he served as an auxiliary police officer in Red Wing and then he had also worked as a correctional officer at the Stillwater Prison until his retirement in 1992. After retiring, he drove school bus in Red Wing. He was an active member of the Church of St. Joseph, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing games, cards and pool with his family and he especially enjoyed doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor of Red Wing; six children: Marlene (Ron) Tatro of Rochester, Susan (Jim) Gangl, Lydia (Paul) Parker and Candace (Marvin) Whipple, all of Red Wing, Edward "Ole" (Sandy) Bath of Wyoming and Terrance (Donna) Bath of Stillwater; twenty-eight grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Hubert (Carol) Bath of Trinidad, CO, Leonard Bath of Red Wing and Edward Bath of Winona and Dennis (Gwen) Bath of Sparta, Wisconsin; two sisters, Barbara (Dave) Sword of Rochester and Nancy Brady of Melrose. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Bath and an infant sister.

Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at Church of Saint Joseph with Father Thomas Kommers presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 4 p. m. Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
