Edward "Ted" Anderson

Edward ‘Ted' Gibson Anderson passed away on Friday January 24th, 2014. He died peacefully at home with his family around him.

The Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota with Father Timothy Dolan officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.

Ted was born on January 5th, 1929 in Blyth, Northumberland, England. He was educated there and graduated from high school in 1947. He attended Bristol University and was awarded a BSc in math and physics in 1950. After graduation he was drafted into the British Army and served two years during the Korean War. He served a further three years in the Reserves and was finally discharged with the rank of Lieutenant. In 1955 he married Elizabeth Andrews. They were later divorced.

After military service, Ted was employed by several engineering companies until he joined IBM (UK) in 1960. He worked in the sales force and at the development laboratory in Hursley England. In 1971 he married Patricia Evert of Zumbrota. They made their home in England and then in Zumbrota after his transfer to IBM Rochester in 1976. He worked there as a Senior Product Planner until he retired in 1990.

Ted was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas and Elizabeth, and his brother Marshall. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his children Heather (Simon) Cowell, Brenda Dymond and Mark (Kim) Anderson all of England, and Todd (Tracy) Langevin of Edina and Suzanne Langevin of Rochester. Ted has nine grandchildren Robert, Adam and Hannah Cowell, Michael and Claire Dymond, and Craig and Elliot Anderson, and Kelly and Daniel Langevin.

Ted was an accomplished pianist. He played for some years at St Paul's Catholic church in Zumbrota and provided many years of piano entertainment at local nursing homes. He enjoyed golf, reading, keeping his mind busy and country living. In 1992 he was named Goodhue County Woodland Manager of the year for his efforts on his farm of 37 years. Ted became a U.S. citizen in 2005, yet was proud of being British and made annual visits to England since moving to the U.S.
