Edna Mae Bond, 93, of Red Wing, died Sunday, August 1, 2010 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born May 2, 1917 in East Chain, Minnesota to Floyd and Ella (Greenstrand) Rowley. She attended school in the Jackson area and graduated from Jackson High School in 1935. She married Marvin Bond on November 27, 1935 in Estherville, Iowa. They moved to Red Wing in 1962 and together enjoyed traveling and camping. Edna was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing for many people in the area. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, serving on its Ladies Aid, Altar Guild and quilting group. She also served as the superintendant for the Vasa Children's Home Sunday School for 25 years and was an election judge in Goodhue County for many years. She enjoyed baking cookies and bread, with fried bread being everyone's favorite. Edna and her husband celebrated 74 years of marriage together, prior to his passing on December 29, 2009.

She is survived by six children, Maxine Garber of Jackson, MN, Bill (Rosemary) Bond of Waite Park, MN, Richard Bond of Hastings, Catherine (Dale) Kuhl of Red Wing, Mark (Becky) Bond of Pardeeville, Wis., and Brad Bond of Madison, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Joan Bond of Bloomington; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, David.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Dar Reeck officiating. Private family burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
