Edmund E. Flemke

Edmund E. Flemke age 95, of Zumbrota died on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Zumbrota Health Services. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Wayne D. Schoch officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Edmund Ernest Flemke was born on March 13, 1916 in Otter Tail County, MN to Gustav and Martha (nee Harke) Flemke. He grew up on the farm and attended country school. In 1942 his family moved to Bay City, WI and in 1948 they moved to Zumbrota. Edmund helped his parents on the farm and health issues prevented him from being employed full time. After Edmund got healthy he started working for Clarence Gerken, installing barn cleaners and also working on Clarence's farm. In 1975 he was hurt in a farm accident and was forced to retire. Edmund was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and his church was very important in Edmund's life. He enjoyed fishing, visiting with friends and listening to the MN Twins games on the radio.
Edmund is survived by one brother, Leslie (Della Mae) Flemke of Pine Island, five nephews, Joel (Nancy) Flemke of Pine Island, Ronald (Sue) Flemke of Pine Island, Tom (Faye) Flemke of Owatonna, Dan (Cindy) Flemke of Red Wing, Steve (LaVae) Flemke of Madison, WI; one niece Carol Mickelson of Red Wing and many great nieces and nephews.
Edmund was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Otto Flemke.
Casketbearers are his nephews Joel, Ronald, Tom, Dan and Steve Flemke and niece Carol Mickelson.
Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
