Edith Marie Kyllo

Edith M. (Hegseth) Kyllo, age 85 of Wanamingo, died peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at her residence. A Funeral Service will be on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Wanamingo Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Culuris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
Edith Marie Deraas was born on May 3, 1931 in Zumbrota, MN to Edwin and Helen (Froyum) Deraas. Edith attended Wanamingo schools and graduated in 1949. Edith continued her education at St. Cloud Teachers College getting her two year degree. Edith then started her teaching career for the Mazeppa School District. Edith married Alton Hegseth on March 24, 1951. They bought their farm in rural Wanamingo where they raised their family. Together they enjoyed traveling, camping, and going to see their children's sporting events. Also during that time Edith went back to school and completed her four year degree at Winona State University. In 1980 they sold their farm and moved to Wanamingo, in 1990 Alton passed. A few years later on September 25, 1993 Edith married Maurice "Bud" Kyllo. In their retirement together they built a home, traveled and did many historical bus tours. After Bud passed in 2014, Edith continued to live in their home where she enjoyed giving piano lessons and hosting family holiday celebrations. Edith also enjoyed playing organ at church, reading, drinking root beer, and spending time with her bible study group and family.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Greg) Gay of Waynesbora, VA; sons, Brian (Penny) Hegseth of Forest Lake, Brad (Donna) Hegseth of Zumbrota, and Todd (Lisa) Hegseth of Oswego, IL.; step-daughter, Becky (Wayne) Foco of Boston, MA.; thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her husbands, Alton Hegseth and Maurice "Bud" Kyllo; an infant daughter, Brenda Hegseth; an infant granddaughter, Kayla Hegseth; brothers, Rolf and Phillip Deraas; and her parents.
Memorials preferred to Wanamingo Lutheran Church.
