Bernie died peacefully at St. Crispin Living Community on May 21, 2020. She was born on March 9, 1931 to Bernard and Maude Yanisch in Herbert, WI. and attended Herbert country school and Ellsworth High School. On June 3, 1948 she married Vernon Riegelman in Clayfield WI.
She was an avid baker and caterer; Bernie was known for her homemade potato salad sold at local grocery stores. She worked at Red Wing City Hospital, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Braschler's Coffee Shop, Super Value Bakery department and distributing American Greetings cards. Bernie also served as a Red Wing City Hostess for a number of years until retiring.
She loved crafting, playing cards and singing with the Silvertones Choral Group. In earlier years, she played the piano with family and friends in a small band in the Red Wing area. She was a member of Church of St Joseph and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Vern and Bernie loved camping and traveling with family and friends. They made many trips to Branson with friends and spent more than 20 years camping at the O'Neil Creek campground near Chippewa Falls WI.
Bernie is survived by 5 children. Karen Benderman of Garland, TX, Jan (Dave) Petersmeyer of Red Wing, Kevin (Steph) Riegelman of Red Wing, Lori (George) Littlefield of Forney, TX and David (Kristi) Riegelman of Red Wing along with 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 brother, Eugene (Helen) Yanisch of Cottage Grove, Mn. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 7 brothers and sisters.
