Earl F. Traster, 91, of Red Wing, Minnesota formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at his home at Potter Ridge in Red Wing. He was born on July 5, 1922 in Kankakee, Ill, to Fred and Beatrice (Miller) Traster. He graduated from Kendall School of Design in Grand Rapids. He served in the US Army during World War II where he was stationed in New Guinea. Following his discharge he worked for Grand Rapids Store Equipment, designing store interiors, for many years. He was a member of the American Legion in Grand Rapids and enjoyed doing art work. For the past two years he has resided in Red Wing.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Nancy) Traster of Red Wing and Patrick (Kathy) Traster of Drummond Island, Mich., three grandchildren, Charles, Ryan and Jessica; several great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Mixter of Muskegon, Mich.; one brother, David (Gay) Traster of Nebraska and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary; one daughter, Pamela Traster and one son, Mark Traster.
A family service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church in Red Wing. Burial will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Online condolences may be sent to www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
