Dwight Russell Scheitel

Dwight Russell Scheitel, 63, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Red Wing. He was born April 22, 1956, in White Rock, to Herbert and Dorothy (Schye) Scheitel. He was a 1974 graduate of Red Wing Central High School and went on to attend basic training in Texas. In January of 1976, he was united in marriage to Sandra Swisher at Vasa Lutheran Church. He worked maintenance at Red Wing Health Center for many years. Sandra died in 2014. Dwight enjoyed working on cars and took great pride in his 1957 Chevy pickup. He also enjoyed drawing, watching Hogan's Heroes and many types of music including the Beatles and Neil Diamond. He loved his dogs, his goldfish and his son Jared's pumpkin cake.
He is survived by his three children, Samantha, Jared and Devon Scheitel all of Red Wing; four siblings, Doris Farley, Herbert "Buzzy" (Kay) Scheitel, Mildred Niebeling and Florence Keppers and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra; and siblings, Myrtle, Virginia, Robert, Charles and David Scheitel and Ruth Thompson.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2020, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
