Duane Edward Kundert, 74 years old, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born to Leo and Bertha (Berg) Kundert on March 9, 1937 in New Haven Township, Olmsted County. On November 19, 1957, he married Bonita (Bonnie) Streiff. He retired from Yellow Freight System in Rochester in 1996 at the age of 58. He enjoyed fishing, watching the races, and Two and a Half Men.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie and 3 daughters: Kathy (Mike) Guenther; Kari (Duane) McGowan; and Susan (Jerry) Moore; 2 sons: Kevin and Jon Kundert; grandchildren: Steve (Courtney) McGowan; Naomi (Eric) Roeder; Stuart McGowan; Kimber McGowan; Grant (Laura) Schimek; Ryan Schimek (and friend, Bri Obermueller); Joe Schimek (and fiancé Lauren Harris); Bradley Schimek (and friend, Caitlin Jensen); Candice Guenther (and fiancé Bill Diekman), Emily, Wyatt and Savannah Kundert; and Brynn, Jadyn and Camryn Kundert; step-granddaughters: Anna and Brittany Moore; great-grandchildren: Connor, Owen and Cooper McGowan; Reagan and Jacob Schimek; and Bram and Daxton Roeder; step-great-grandchildren: Jordan and Josie Diekman; two sisters, Pauline Hammes, Bonnie (Dick) Gamlin; and nieces and nephews in the area, many of whom called him Grandpa Jug: Kelly (Mike) Paulson; Kristi (Bryan), Katrina, Lainey and Isabelle Sorensen; Mike (Lavonne) Hammes; Steve (Suzette) Hinrichs; Pat (Dennis) Meyers, and Brian Streiff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Roseanne Hinrichs.
Funeral will be 2 PM Wednesday, November, 30, 2011 at United Methodist Church in Pine Island with Revered Carolyn Westlake officiating. Burial will be at the Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home- Mahler Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
