Dr. Wilbur E. "Webb" Hallahan, 87, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Red Wing Health Center. He was born December 7, 1920 in Clinton, Minnesota to Harry and Rosella (Dudney) Hallahan. His family moved to Pipestone where he graduated from high school in 1939. He married Mildred "Mickie" Johnson on January 26, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II and was attached to the Eastern Pilot Training Command from 1943-1946. After his discharge from the service he attended Brainerd Community College and Tennessee State University. In 1955 he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He opened his optometric office in Red Wing in 1955 and retired in 1986. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Red Wing Elks BPOE #845, the Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54 and the DAV. He served as the Lion Tamer of the Red Wing Lions Club and he also served on the board of the United Way. He was also a long-time member of Mac's and Bev's Round Table.
He is survived by his son, Dr. David (Pamela) Hallahan of Red Wing; two grandchildren, Todd Hallahan of Hager City and Tammi Nepstad of Hasting; four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; and one brother, John Hallahan
A private family service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
