Douglas Gene Schlaeppi, 75, of Rochester, died Friday May 21, 2021 at Rochester West Health Services where he had resided for the past few years.

He was born November 15, 1945 in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, to William and Evelyn (Owens) Schlaeppi. He attended schools in Zumbrota, Zumbro Falls, and Pine Island. Doug was a graduate of Pine Island High School in 1964. In 1971, he enrolled at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He returned to Rochester and started Schlaeppi Home Improvement and was self employed.

He is survived by his sisters, Betty Clemens of Pine Island, Kathy Goplen and Bonnie Radke, both of Zumbrota, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Beverly Young, and a brother Donald Schlaeppi.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday May 26th at 12:00 noon at Rochester Seventh-day Adventist Church. Dr. Bradley Booth, Pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Pine Island Cemetery.
