A memorial service for Douglas Opsahl will be held Monday July 26th at 11:00 AM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. The Reverend Carol Shaffer will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion, Post 92. Mr. Opsahl, 54, of Rochester, died Thursday July 22, 2010 at his home in Rochester.
Douglas Hans Opsahl was born January 4, 1956 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the son of Harold and Betty Opsahl. Raised in LaCrescent, he was a graduate of the public schools there. He served 18 years in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. He was married on November 24, 1992 to Sherrie Martin in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. He worked as an optical lab manager for Pearl Vision in Rochester and Woodbury. For the past 6 years he owned and operated Main Street Maintenance. He was an avid golfer, loved all sports, and enjoyed spending time with friends. He was a member of the Eagles' Lodge and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrie Martin-Opsahl of Rochester; children, Michael (Tracy) Opsahl, Kristina (Mitch) Sloan, both of Sauk Rapids, Corey Edge, Justin (Corrin) Edge, Ryan Edge, and Rachel Edge, all of Rochester; 6 grandchildren, Ethan Opsahl, Dylan Edge, Trinity Smith, Richard Edge, Ezra Edge, and Austin Opsahl. His mother, Betty Dady of Wabasha; 3 brothers, and a sister also survive. He was preceded in death by his father.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. Following the service, everyone in attendance is invited to join the family for a luncheon at the American Legion.
