Dorothy A. Werth age 88 of Zumbrota died on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Zumbrota Health Services. Memorial service is scheduled for Monday, June 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Susan Vikstrom officiating. Burial will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, June 22, 2009 for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dorothy Anne West was born on August 7, 1920 in Rochester, MN to Louis and Bessie E. (nee Gerry) West. She grew up in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School in 1938. Dorothy started working for Woolworth's in Rochester. On April 28, 1946 she married Donald "Checko" Werth in Rochester. Dorothy worked in general service at the Mayo Clinic. In the late 1940's, they moved to Zumbrota and she started working for the Zumbrota Hospital. In 1964 she returned to working in general services for the Mayo Clinic and retired in 1984 as a lab technician. Dorothy was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church, WELCA, Stary?Yerka VFW Post #5727 Auxiliary and the Covered Bridge Society. She enjoyed reading, needlework, bird watching, watching the Twins, Gophers, bowling and figure skating on TV, and her cats.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Greg (Lynn) Werth of Zumbrota; one granddaughter, Krista (Brett) Boelter of Zumbrota and one great-grandson, Caden Boelter of Zumbrota.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Checko"; her parents, Louise and Bessie; and one sister, Kathrine Mahood.
