Obituary Dorothy Jean Wakefield, age 76, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born on December 19, 1929, in Zumbrota, to Edward and Agnes (Gilbertson) Wiuff. As a child, she lived in various states while her father worked in the construction industry, prior to moving to Red Wing in 1946. She attended rural school near Frontenac and Spring Lake Park. She married Vernon Wakefield on October 23, 1947, at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Red Wing. She worked for LaGrange Shoe, Red Wing Shoe and Red Wing Knitting Mill. From 1955 to 1964, she and her husband lived in various places while he worked in construction. After they returned to Red wing, she worked for Kid Duds, Red Wing Industries, Jostens, Hi Quality Bakery and the Red Carpet Inn, retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church. She collected salt and pepper shakers, cookie jars and spoons; and she enjoyed painting on fabric and crocheting. Survivors include her husband of Red Wing; two daughters, Linda (Bill) Tharalson of Red Wing and Anita (Dave) Strauss of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Kay) View of Minnetonka and Roger (Sandy) Wiuff of Red Wing. Preceding her in death were a grandson, Steven Tharalson; and two sisters, Lois Lidgerding and Audrey Redmann. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church with Reverend Kirsten Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 3 ? 7 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the time of services Saturday at the church.
