Dorothy Elaine Stokes
July 7, 1934 — January 8, 2016
Dorothy Elaine Stokes, 81, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend danced her way into heaven to sing with the angels on January 8th, 2016.
Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love with her four children; Robin Kempkes (Husband Carl), Robert Russel O'Dell, Rhonda Fowler and Rocky O'Dell (Wife Nancy). Her loving, adventurous spirit is reflected in her five grandchildren; Danielle, Katrina (Husband Dennis), Jonathen (Wife Erin), Michael and Jacob. Dorothy's pure joy shines through the eyes of her three great-granddaughters; Amber (Husband Josh) Ashly and Madison. Her beautiful smile is echoed on the faces of her two great-great granddaughters, Hannah Faith and Hazel Grace.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Norbert Stokes, her parents, Earnest and Mata Gerber, and three of her sisters. She is survived by two sisters, two brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 12, at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel, from 4-7 pm, and one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church.
Services will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Wednesday, January 13th at 1:30 pm, with burial following at Chatfield Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to all of the special people who cared for Dorothy during her time at Cottagewood of Rochester, and a special thanks to Bridget Dahle for all she has done.
