Dorothy A. Kvam

Dorothy A. Kvam, age 84, of Zumbrota died unexpectedly on Friday November 13, 2009 at her home.

Dorothy Amalia Scheffler was born September 23, 1925 in Pine Island Township to Henry and Amalia (nee Hendel) Scheffler. She grew up in Zumbrota and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1943. On August 21, 1955 she married Orville Kvam and together they farmed and she also worked for Zumbrota High School as a secretary to the principal. Orville preceded Dorothy in death on July 4, 2004 after 48 years of marriage. Dorothy enjoyed watching birds from her windows, ducks, cats, flowers, attending craft events, and spending time with family. Dorothy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxillary.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, Erwin Scheffler of Cannon Falls; her sister-in-law, Jane Scheffler of Red Wing; and many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Karl Scheffler; and her husband, Orville.
