Dorothy Louise Hanson, 83, Red Wing, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born February 23, 1925 in Red Wing, the daughter of August and Ruby (Mandelkow) Strusz. She attended school in District 144 in the Vasa area. She married Charles Hanson on September 28, 1948 in Vasa Township at her parents' home. She was a member of Vasa Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being the family historian, a homemaker, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; nine children, Arvin (Corrine) Hanson of Plainview, Duane (Marilyn) Hanson of Red Wing, Rodney (Lucy) Hanson of Winona, Linda (Stan) Lundell of Cannon Falls, Brenda (Larry "Curly") Holst of Zumbrota, Kevin (Martha) Hanson of Red Wing, Marlys (Kevin) Davis of Cannon Falls, Janelle (Tom) Ahern of Red Wing and Lavonne (Brian) Boch of Park Ridge, IL; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four siblings; Adeline (Henry) Hove of Red Wing, Herbert Strusz of Red Wing, Janice Hince of Pepin, WI, and Iva Hauschildt of Red Wing. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Robert Strusz, an infant brother and an infant sister.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Vasa Lutheran Church with Reverend Michael Dobbins officiating. Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad, Chad and Matthew Hanson, Eric Lundell, Brett Davis, Josh Hanson and Andy Ahern. Visitation will be 5-8 p. m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to Vasa Lutheran Church.
