Dorothy May Chapman, 92 of Red Wing died on Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Red Wing Healthcare Center in Red Wing.
Dorothy was born April 17, 1918 in Negaunee, Michigan, the daughter of John and Nellie (Parrott) Helmsdorfer. On August 2, 1939 she was united in marriage to Irwin "Bud" Chapman in Mason City, Iowa. The couple lived in Red Wing and she had worked at JC Penney Store in Red Wing for many years. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and gardening.
She is survived her daughter; Sally (Donivan) Kimmes of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin; grandsons John (Shawna) Kimmes of Hastings and Brian Kimmes of Red Wing; great-grandchildren Sara and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
A Memorial Service will be 7 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Father Theo Parker officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials preferred to Christ Episcopal Church. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
