APPLE VALLEY-Dorothy E. Betcher, age 98, of Apple Valley, MN, died Saturday, (May 3, 2014) at the Centennial House Assisted Living Center in Apple Valley.
Dorothy E. Welch was born on December 3, 1915 in Pleasant Grove, Minnesota the daughter of Earl and Neva (Goodwin) Welch. She attended school in the Pleasant Grove area. On October 11, 1936 Dorothy was united in marriage to Gerhard Betcher in Rochester. Dorothy raised her family and assisted her husband as an accountant in their business adventures. Dorothy and Gerhard were married for 31 years until his death on June 1, 1967. Dorothy lived in Lake City from 1995 until moving to Apple Valley in 2011. She greatly enjoyed cooking and time with her grandchildren. She loved to travel and took great pride in caring for her home.
Dorothy is survived by her children Cindy Brown of Apple Valley, MN and Gary (Kim) Betcher of Frontenac, MN; granddaughter Katie Betcher of Frontenac and great grandson Rowan Fleming of Frontenac, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerhard, one brother Ronald Welch and sister-in-law Ethel Welch.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel with Rev. Maurice Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
