Dorothy I. Behrens, 89, died Saturday at her home in Red Wing. She was born on May 21, 1917 in Browning, MO to James L. Haggard and Laura E. (Watson) Haggard. She moved to Red Wing as a teenager following the early deaths of her parents and graduated from Central High School in 1938. She married Richard H. Behrens in 1943 at Mather Field, a U.S. Army Air Corps base in Sacramento, CA, and returned to Red Wing with her husband following World War II. She enjoyed gardening and shared a great respect for the natural world with her husband. She was a wonderful homemaker with a loving devotion to her family and friends.Survivors include one daughter, Jamie K. Fitzgerald of Decatur, IN; one son Robert H. (Wendy) Behrens of Red Wing, four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one sister Kathleen L. Quigley of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Red Wing at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31st. Memorials are preferred to benefit the church building fund.
