Doris Romo

The funeral service for Doris L. Romo will be at 1p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Reverend Kip Groettum and Reverend John Torris Lohre officiating. Burial will be at Pine Island Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Steve Romo, Gary Romo, Kerri Carda, Lisa Tybor, Kelly Romo, Tony Romo, Jessica Thornton, Scott Romo, Katie Disalvo, and Andy Quam.

Doris Romo, 85, of Pine Island died Saturday at Pine Haven Care Center. She was born Doris Lorraine Brandli on November 3, 1923 in Milton Township to Charles and Ruby (Postier) Brandli. She attended the Pumpkin Hollow School in Milton Township, and after completion she helped take care of her siblings and other families. She married Floyd Berdeen Romo on September 6, 1942 in Rochester. She lived in the area working as a cook at various restaurants while Floyd was away in the military. In 1968 they purchased the Standard Station and Restaurant where she worked as a cook until they sold it in 1981. They moved to Zumbrota where she worked as at the Zumbrota Nursing Home as a cook until retiring. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Charles Cowden American Legion Post #184 Auxiliary, and Pine Island Senior Citizen Club. She enjoyed playing bingo, music, dancing, and bowling.

Survivors include three sons, Francis (Sue) Romo of Mora, MN, Dale (Kathy) Romo of Villa Rica, GA, Carle (Diane) Romo of Pine Island; one daughter, Sue (Tim) Quam of Zumbrota; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Betty) Brandli, Donald (Josie) Brandli; three sisters, Janet (Pete) Drysdale, Janice Gustafson, Dorothy (Darwin) Gertner; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Romo; three brothers, Claire, Lyle, and Carl Brandli.

Visitation will be 4 � 7 p.m. Monday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
