Doris Lucille Ritter, age 83, of Pine Island died on Wednesday January 5, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday January 8, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco with the Reverend Paul Baldauf officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Oronoco Cemetery.
Doris Lucille Adler was born June 28, 1927 in rural Olmsted County to Hilbert and Rena (Siem) Adler. She attended various rural schools. She helped on her family farm and later went to work at a dime store in Rochester. On September 27, 1947 she married Clifford Alden Ritter at Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco. Together the couple lived and worked the land of what was to become a century farm. She worked as a waitress at Sandy point and later retired from Sears in Rochester. On September 28, 2010 Clifford passed at Season's Hospice in Rochester.
Doris was very social and a people person. She enjoyed attending church activities, going dancing at the Playmore, making ceramics and having Sunday dinners with friends and family. She enjoyed her time at the Card Club, Senior Citizen activities, her town house neighborhood, and being an election official. She also enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips to Branson and other outings. She loved to garden and run her tiller, which required a special "tiller starting prayer" each spring.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Diane (Michael) Lien, of Faribault; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilbert and Rena; her husband of 63 years, Clifford Ritter; two brothers, Melvin and Norman Adler; and her sister, Marilyn Jensen.
Memorials may be directed to the Grace Lutheran Church of Oronoco.
