OBITUARY NOTICE:
Doris Mae Kautz

Doris M. Kautz, age 84, of Oronoco died Monday, September 1, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Funeral service will be 1p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Reverend Kip Groettum and Reverend John Torris Lohre officiating. Burial will be at Oronoco Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Chris Liffrig, Matt Fredrickson, Ryan Bishop, Butch Kautz, Tom Markham, and Howard Markham. Honorary bearers will be Tina Liffrig, Lisa Fredrickson, Renee Bishop, Janelle Holst, Deann Kautz, Michelle Fuller, and Amanda Bonsell. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Mahler Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Doris Mae Markham was born on March 15, 1924 to Bernie and Mabel (Stoppel) Markham in Sumner Township, in Fillmore County. Her family moved to Oronoco where she attended and graduated from Coon Grove School in 1938. She worked at the Kahler Hotel until marrying Gaylord Earl Kautz on January 19, 1946 in Rochester. They moved to California, where she did house cleaning for a military officer. They moved back to Oronoco where they raised their four children. She later worked at Libbys, Kresge, and Sandy Point. Gaylord died March 24, 2008. She was recently crowned queen at the Pine Haven Care Center. She was a member of the Coon Grove birthday club and the Coon Grove card club. She enjoyed baking, making ribbon candy, and gardening.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Mary (Ronald) Fuller of Oronoco; three sons, Gary (Sandra) Kautz of Oronoco, Larry (Bev) Kautz of Pine Island, and Barry (Deb) Kautz of Zumbro Falls; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Vernon (Eunice) Markham of Oronoco, William (Hazel) Markham of Oronoco, Bernard (Betty) Markham of Rochester, and Leon (Virginia) Markham of Mantorville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord; and two brothers, Henry and Leonard Markham.
