Doris Corrine Gernentz, 85, of Red Wing, died Tuesday at Valentine Assisted Living in Red Wing. She was born on November 20, 1922, in Red Wing to George and Rose (Grote) Arden. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School. On August 12, 1943, she married Vincent Gernentz at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. For 37 years she worked for the Red Wing Shoe Company. She was member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed going to the cabin and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her two sons, Richard (Antine Simpson) Gernentz of Red Wing and Ronald (Barb) Gernentz of Red Wing; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother, Delbert Arden of Red Wing; two sisters, Doraine Hernlem of Hastings and Donna Vieths of Red Wing and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Dorman and Donald.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Loren Lucht officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky, Chad and Brett Gernentz, Joe and Ricky Rhodes and Chase White. Honorary pallbearers will be April, August and Gracy Mae Gernentz. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorials are preferred to the church or Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
