OBITUARY: Doris Froyum
Funeral services for Doris Froyum will be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Lands Lutheran Church with Reverend Luther Peterson officiating. Music will be provided by Karen Heimer, organist, and Pastor Vicki Hultine, soloist. Active casketbearers will be Dwain Otte, Bryce Otte, Jason Otte, Sigurd Ree, Gunder Froyum, Walter Froyum, Ashley Gergen and Deanna McCoy. Honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burial will follow in Lands Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Seasons Hospice.
Doris Froyum, age 69, of Wanamingo, died on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the Sunrise Cottages in Rochester. Doris Judith Stafford was born on May 22, 1938 in Belle Creek Township, Goodhue County, MN to Howard and Lorriane (Hougo) Stafford.
She attended school in rural Belle Creek. On December 17, 1957, she married Raymond Forsell at Spring Garden Lutheran Church at Belle Creek. They lived in Belle Creek and Raymond died on September 21, 1976. Doris married Glenn Froyum on July 28, 1979 in Randolph, MN. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Wanamingo where Doris worked for Carleton College in Northfield. She retired after 13 years. She was an active member of Lands Lutheran Church and served on the Board at Sunset Home in Kenyon and was its President for 3 years. They enjoyed polka dancing and were nominated King and Queen of Polka America from 1984-1985. She was a lecturer for Weight Watchers and enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers and humming birds.
Doris is survived by her husband, Glenn, of Wanamingo, MN; three daughters: Barb Groth, of Cannon Falls, MN; Beverly (Donald) Otte, of Randolph, MN; Brenda (Stanley) Gergen, of Cannon Falls, MN; one son, Bradley (Linette) Forsell, of Oasakis, MN; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; three brothers: Donnie (Christine) Sholing; Leonard Sholing; Bernie (Laurel) Sholing; three sisters: Bonnie (Ken) Jensen; Mary Jo (Scott) Weyand; and Sylvia (Terry) Burns.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Raymond, one son, Bruce, and one infant daughter, Susie.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
