Doris E. Berg age 86 of Pine Island died on Wednesday morning, November 17, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Doris Elaine Heins was born on March 19, 1924 in New Haven Township, Olmsted County, MN to Harry L. and Attrice D. (nee Ackerman) Heins. She grew up in rural Pine Island and attended Pine Island Schools, graduating from Pine Island High School in 1941. Doris worked as a telephone operator until her marriage to Gorman P. Berg on June 27, 1942. They farmed on several different farms before purchasing a farm in Roscoe Township in 1952. They farmed in Roscoe Township until retiring and moving into Pine Island in 1986. Gorman died on July 7, 1993. Doris worked several jobs, including twenty five years at the Pine Haven Care Center and in her later years worked at the Farm Country Co op Amoco Station and Kwik Trip stations in Pine Island. Doris enjoyed rag rug making, baking, cooking, family gatherings, traveling and her Roscoe Birthday Club. Doris is survived by her children, Jerry (Carolyn) Berg of Pine Island, Larry (Mona) Berg of Pine Island, Susie (Ell) Heusinkveld of Mantorville And Tom (Penny) Berg of Pine Island; twelve grandchildren, Dennis (Tammie) Berg of Pine Island, Scott (Karrie) Berg of Mantorville, Kelly (Mark) Thornton of Zumbro Falls, Betsy (Gregg) Ulvenes of Red Wing, Brian Berg of Pine Island, Jason (Kelley) Reber of Mantorville, Trista (Tom Ramey) Reber of Nelson, WI, Tiffany (Garrett) Duncanson of Rochester, Jonathan Berg of Pine Island, Matthew Berg of Pine Island, Mark Berg of Pine Island and Kalley Berg of Pine Island; twenty two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gorman and brother, Harold "Bud" Heins. Casketbearers are her grandsons, Jason Reber, Jonathan, Matthew, Mark, Brian, Scott and Dennis Berg. Memorials are suggested to Lands Lutheran Church.
