Dora Frances McKenna, 83, Red Wing, died Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Red Wing Health Center. She was born February 13, 1925 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of LeRoy and Pauline (Partain) Hecq. She attended schools in California and worked in the ammunitions industry during World War II. She married James McKenna and they lived in California, Arizona and New Mexico. Dora moved to Red Wing in 1998 and James remained in Arizona for health reasons. He died in 1999. For the last two years Dora has resided at Red Wing Health Center. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and visitors.
Survivors include three daughters: Polly (Larry) Hauschildt and Martha (Michael) Russell, all of Red Wing and Marjorie McKenna of Avondale, AZ; one son, James (Nancy) McKenna of Watseka, IL; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, LeRoy, Jack and Chuck Hecq and one granddaughter, Hannah McKenna.
Memorial service will be 1 p. m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Dar Reeck officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Scheske, Michael Russell and Duncan McKenna. Burial will be at a later date at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, CA. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
