Donna "Jean" Wendt, 90, of Red Wing, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019 at her home. She was born August 26, 1929, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to John and Anna Palmer, who were both from Sweden. She grew up and went to school in Minneapolis, graduating from college with a teaching degree. She taught school in Anoka and St. Paul Park, MN and in Washington D.C. Jean married Francis "Frank" Wendt on Oct. 7, 1950 and they were blessed with two children. During their 69 years of marriage, Jean and Frank enjoyed traveling-visiting all 50 states, numerous countries in Europe and the Middle East and many cruises. She enjoyed playing bridge, belonging to several card clubs. Golfing was another passion, playing for many years at numerous courses around the country.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; two children, Nancy (Greg) Orne and Thomas (Vete) Wendt; 2 granddaughters, Linnea and Annika Orne and nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held with interment at a later date at the Wacouta Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society or Mayo Clinic Red Wing Hospice.
