Donna Marie Mumford

Donna Marie Mumford, age 83, of Fairbanks, Alaska, formerly of Red Wing, died Friday, September 26, 2008, at her home. She was born on September 7, 1925, in Red Wing, to Marshall and Marie (Hines) Larsen. She attended St. Joseph Parochial school and was a 1943 graduate of Red Wing Central High School. She married Edward F. Mumford on September 14, 1946, in Red Wing. He died on April 28, 1974. She was employed with the Republican Eagle Newspaper for many years until retiring in 1990. She moved to Alaska five years ago to be near her family. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Wing and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, visiting with family, corresponding with friends and enjoying life.

Survivors include three children, Julie Smith of Spring, TX, Charles (Rachel) Mumford, and Karen (Ron Rowland) Mumford of Fairbanks, AK; five grandchildren, Todd and Jason Smith, Andrew and Katie Mumford, and Wyatt Martin; four great grandchildren, Bonnie, Destini, Jalyn and Selbi Smith; and a brother, Dale (Evelyn) Larsen of Wichita, KS. Her husband and an infant son, Jeffrey, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Wing with Father Thomas Kommers presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and one hour prior to the time of services Friday at the church. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Todd and Jason Smith, Andrew and Katie Mumford, and Wyatt Martin and Bonnie, Destini, Jalyn and Selbi Smith.

Our mother lived a full life, leaving many good friends and co-workers in Red Wing. She will truly be missed by all.
