Donna J. Melhouse

Donna J. Melhouse (Borgshcatz), 80 years young, passed peacefully on May 17, 2013. She was the daughter of Henry W. and Huldah E. (Stechmann) Borgschatz, born on July 3, 1932 in Zumbrota, Minnesota. Donna graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1950. On August 20, 1954 she was united in marriage to Curtis A. Melhouse at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. During the early years of marriage, Donna and Curtis explored different parts of the United States while Curtis worked for the railroad. They lived in New Mexico, Kansas, and Texas before settling in Sogn Valley. Donna was a strong and courageous woman with many talents. She worked as a bank teller and a hair dresser before her long time career in telecommunications. Donna enjoyed traveling with Curtis in their motorhome as well as delivering motorhomes to all parts of the United States. She enjoyed polka dancing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Donna's cheerful, generous, caring, and nurturing spirit will be missed greatly.
Donna is survived by her sons, Bradley Melhouse of Kenyon and Gary Melhouse of Owatonna; daughters, Sandra (David) Jackson of Manlius, NY and Lisa Melhouse of Sacramento, CA; three grandchildren, Christina Melhouse, Curtis Jackson and Adam Jackson; one great-granddaughter, Layla Melhouse and many nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Curtis; brothers, Harvey, Harlyn, Vernon and Alton Borgschatz; and one sister, Darlene Johnson.
Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00AM with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. Inurnment will be in Zumbrota Cemetery.
