Donna Mae "Mickey" Kirtz, age 82 of Lake City passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Care Center at Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City.
Donna was born January 16, 1931 in Lake City, MN, to George & Emma (Dammann) Kirkwood. She grew up in Lake City and attended school at St. John's Lutheran. She married Alvin Kirtz November 1, 1948, in Norwood Iowa. They lived in Lake City where together they owned and operated Lake Pepin Amusement Co. Alvin died March 23, 1992. She was a member at St. John's Lutheran Church and part of the Ladies Aid, VFW Post 8729 Auxiliary, and American Legion Post 110 Auxiliary. Mickey loved flowers, gardening, bowling, golfing and traveling.
She is survived by one son Thomas (Janet) of Burnsville; one daughter, Susan (William) Stiene of Lake City; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, William (Lil) Kirkwood of Phoenix, Marcella Olmstead of Orange, CA, and John "CJ" (Kate) Kirkwood of Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; son, Robert Kirtz; brother, Robert Kirkwood.
A Funeral Service will be held 2p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Daniel Kroll officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
