Donna Maxine Gilbertson, 82, of Red Wing, died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at St. Crispin Living Community, Seminary Home. She was born in Red Wing on New Year's Eve, 1933 to Lawrence and Pearl (Strothman) Englund. She grew up in Red Wing, graduating from Red Wing Central High School in 1951. She married Roger D. Gilbertson on July 11, 1953 and the couple moved to Maryland while Roger was in the service. They later moved home to Red Wing where Donna worked at Wash n' Fold Laundromat but devoted most of her time to being a homemaker and mother. She was an excellent cook and baker, donating many baked good to local fundraisers. In 1986 they moved to Beldenville, Wisconsin where they owned a hobby farm. Donna enjoyed playing Yahtzee and card games, especially Euchre. She also enjoyed word finds and jigsaw puzzles. She was a talented seamstress who also knit. She loved to send greeting cards and will be remembered for her exceptional penmanship.
She is survived by her three children, Terry (Heidi), Joni (Terry) Westerberg and Patti Smith Flynn all of Red Wing; six grandchildren, Andrea (Joe) Ladnier, Stacie (Tom) Leifeld, Lindsay (Kerry) Lyons-Sorenson, Jake (Leah) Gilbertson, Joshua Smith and Jonathan (Missi Blue) Westerberg; 13 great-grandchildren, Blake, Tyler, Jaycee, Hunter, Paris, Ava, Dresdon, Carson, Jaxson, Issac, Noah, Pearl and Cash. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger in 2008; brothers, Vincent and Larry Englund and her parents, Lawrence and Pearl.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 23 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Arte Sharot officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
