Donald Ernest Wiebusch

Don, 86, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City care center in Lake City, MN.

He was born April 21, 1927 to Martin and Martha (Boettcher) Wiebusch in Belvidere, MN. He was confirmed at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Goodhue, MN on April 6, 1941. Don married Edith Olson on May 25, 1950. He farmed until they moved to Lake City in 1953 where he ran Northside Mobile Gas Station for 12 years. He then operated the Phillips 66 Station (formerly the Shell) located next to Herron Chevrolet for 2 years. He started working as the Fleet Mechanic for UPS, in 1967 and continued for 24 years until he retired. However not being able to give up mechanics he started "Don's Repair" for lawnmowers and snowblowers, along with plowing snow for businesses and residences. He was active in the Cliff & Coulee Climbers Snowmobile Club for 30 years and was honored for operating the Tucker Groomer, grooming the snowmobile trails for 15 of those years.

His hobbies included in his earlier years of retirement; camping, fishing, deer, and pheasant hunting. He downed a bull moose in Northern Minn, and an antelope with his son, Kevin in South Dakota. In recent years he loved going to have breakfast with the "guys", enjoyed gardening especially flowers, supplying birds with lots of food, card playing, listening to polka music, and trying to outdo his daughter with baking and cooking. Don was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and serviced on the Cemetery Board plus sang in the choir. He was also a lifelong member of the Lake City Sportsman's Club.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol (Lee) Blomgren of Loveland, CO, four sons, Curt (Sandy) of Zumbro Falls, MN, Kevin (Teresa) Wiebusch of Mobridge, SD, Douglas of Cook, MN, Brian (Dawn) Wiebusch of Zumbro Falls, MN; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Ione Hager of Red Wing, MN; and one brother, Hugo of Ridgefield, WA and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Paul; and sister, Phyllis Schumann.

Memorials service will be 6 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Scott Fiege officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and a meal will be served following the service. Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church or Mayo Hospice.
