Donald Lavern Timm, 99, of Red Wing and formerly of Hager City, died Friday, May 24, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society in Inver Grove Heights.
He was born December 28, 1924 in Elgin, Minn. to Frank and Elfa (Bloom) Timm. He attended schools in Millville and Lake City before enlisting in the U.S Army in 1945. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division until his honorable discharge. On March 18, 1950 he married Ariel Guenther and the couple had one son, Garry. From 1950 to 1955, Don farmed in Bay City. He was then employed with Durkee Atwood and he moved to Hager City in 1955.
Don was a member of the Bay City American Legion, Post 357 and the Disabled American Veterans (DVA).
Don enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as tinkering and fixing things.
He is survived by his son, Garry (Sheila) Timm of Cottage Grove; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer (John) McIntosh of Cottage Grove and Andy (Melissa) Timm of Hampton, Minn.; 5 great-grandchildren, Kelly Moran of St. Paul Park, Kevin Moran of Cottage Grove, Jonathan McIntosh of Cottage Grove, Cory Timm of Hampton and Ruby Timm of Hampton; and one great-great-grandbaby arriving in July; 7 nieces and nephews; Vicki (Lyle) Lichtblau of Lake City, Bonnie (Austin) Gwilt of Bellport, Long Island, Jolie (John) Jennings of Magnolia, Texas, Timm (Lorie Meyer) Angell of San Antonio, Texas, Terry (Debbie) Maier of Las Vegas, Sandi Crist of Napa, Calif. and Linda Clark of Kerrville, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ariel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet and Curt Angell and Eileen and Al Maier; and his parents.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2024 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m., Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home and one hour prior the service. Burial will be at Trenton Cemetery.
