Donald A. Tiedemann

August 21, 1931 — July 10, 2007

Donald Tiedemann, 75, of Zumbrota, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with the Reverend Wayne D. Schoch officiating. Interment will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery with combined military honors provided by the Stary-Yerka VFW Post #5727 of Zumbrota, the American Legion Post #183 of Zumbrota and the Mazeppa Honor Guard. Casketbearers will be Donald's grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. on Friday, July 13, 2007 at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and for one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

Donald Albert Tiedemann was born August 21, 1931 in Red Wing to Albert and Regina (Diercks) Tiedemann. He graduated from Zumbrota High School. Donald served in the U. S. Air Force from 1952-1960. On June 6, 1953 he married Doris Ehlen at Grace Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue. Following their marriage the couple farmed near Bellechester until 1963, and relocated to Zumbrota Township where they continued to farm until Donald's retirement in 1989. The couple then moved into Zumbrota. Donald was a bus driver for the Sugarloaf Bus Company for 18 years and also worked at Wedge Lumber Company for a time.

Donald was an active member of the community serving as a past president and treasurer of the Lions Club, supervisor on the Zumbrota Township Board, a member of AMPI and a former member and elder of Grace Lutheran Church. He is a current member of Christ Lutheran Church. Donald enjoyed woodworking, collecting hats and had a passion for classic cars, trucks and tractors.

Donald is survived by his wife, Doris; two daughters, Denise (Kirk) Colwell of Rochester and DeAnn (David) Frederixon of Zumbrota; a son, Dean (Tamie) Tiedemann of Zumbrota; eight grandchildren, Lindsay (fiance, Terry Czeck) and Kyle Colwell, Jared (Amy) Frederixon, Krystal (special friend, Andy Thomforde) and Allison Frederixon, and Chelsey, Brittney and Cody Tiedemann; and one great-grandson, Tucker Frederixon.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother and an infant sister.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
