Donald Charles Siepelmeyer, 86, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Red Wing Health Center. He was born May 20, 1925 in Hay Creek Township to Charles and Loretta (Feindt) Siepelmeyer and attended District 90 Schools. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943, serving during WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to Red Wing and married Lucille Frazier January 18, 1947 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He worked at SB Foot Tanning Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1987. Lucille died in 1980. In August of 1981 he married Dorothy Tri. After retiring the two of them spent time traveling and they also enjoyed visiting and caring for their elderly relatives. Donald also enjoyed reading and taking walks.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 8 children, Lori Siepelmeyer of Portland, Ore., Mary (Don Olsen) Yates of Cottage Grove, Rita (Tim) Meyer of San Diego, Calif., Gary (Sandy) and Barry both of Red Wing, Terry (Joyce) of Welch, Donny (Lisa) of Hager City and Jerry of San Diego; 10 grandchildren, Amy, Tisha, Leah, Mandy, Shane, Tiffany, Cassie, Maggie Rose, Shannon and Jason; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous step children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille; one brother and one sister, and a grandson, Aaron Siepelmeyer.

Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Church of St. Joseph with Father Meyer presiding. Burial with military honors will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
