Donald Edward Scott, age 91 of Red Wing, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Donald was born January 15, 1918 at home in rural Tacoma, WA, to William and Florence (Weed) Scott. He served in World War II with the 91st U.S. Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) in New Guinea and the Philippines. He married Betty Maberry on September 18, 1948 in Tacoma, WA. He first retired in 1973 from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA where he worked as an electrician, then worked six more years at a shipyard in Seattle. Several years later, he and his wife, Betty, joined Mobile Missionary Assistance Program (MMAP), living in an RV and traveling to work at churches, camps and mission agencies across the United States. They moved to Red Wing in 1990 where Betty passed away in 1992. Donald married Ruby Nelson September 21, 1996 in Red Wing. He met Ruby through the "Prime Time Club". Donald was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the American Legion. He attended both First Covenant Church and United Lutheran Church in Red Wing.

Donald is survived by his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Patricia (Rick) Adams of Red Wing and Dorothy (Jon) Andrews of Abrantes, Portugal; three step-daughters, Sue (Ray) Schabert of rural Cannon Falls, Nancy (John) Reynolds of Minneapolis, and Carolyn Lien (Chris Sanford) of Hastings. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, three brothers and two sisters, and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 20 at First Covenant Church with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to First Covenant Church Building Fund, United Lutheran Church Building Fund, or World Venture-Abrantes Building Fund.
