Donald Eugene Savage

Donald Eugene Savage, 80 of Red Wing, died on Friday evening surrounded by his family at his home. Don was born May 24, 1931 in Florence Township, the son of Charles and Blanche (Brock) Savage. He grew up and attended school in the Red Wing/Florence Township area. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany and served during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged from the army Don returned to the Red Wing area and went to work for the Ford Motor Company before going into dairy farming in Lake City, and eventually selling real estate. On July 20, 1953 Don married Gladys Prigge in Red Wing, they later divorced. Don enjoyed dancing and was an avid ping pong player.

He is survived by his children; Sheri (Charles) Janus of Waseca, MN, Barbara "Barni" Seeley of Woodbury, MN, Susan (Mark) Beeston of Rockport,TX, Chris Savage of Two Harbors, MN, and John Savage of Red Wing, MN; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings Jack (Gertrude) Savage, Barbara Newman, Evelyn (Jerry) Nelson, Charles (Pat) Savage, Shirley (David) Thoms, and Jeanette Wadewitz; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Lynde Jo; siblings Bill Savage, Ruth Ann Heineman, Philip Savage, June Jablonski, Mary Jean Goyer, and Marjorie Wedrickas.

Funeral service will be 10 am Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Eugene Hasselquist officiating. Burial will be at Frontenac Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service.
