Donald M. Peterson

Donald M. Peterson, age 85 of Pine Island died at his home on Friday, October 2, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Stordahl Lutheran Church in rural Zumbrota with Pastor Kathy Lowery officiating. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Donald Melroy Peterson was born on November 16, 1929 on the family farm to Adolph and Hannah (nee Hanson) Peterson. He attended country school and helped on the family farm. He married Betty Krause on October 6, 1949. They would have been celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary. They farmed on the family farm until moving into Pine Island in 2001 and they ran the Peterson Hamburger Stand for 14 years. Don enjoyed baking, cooking, dancing, fishing, cards and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Don is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Sandra (Greg) Langley, Gary (Harriet) Peterson, Mary (Bill) Avery, Stuart Peterson; daughter-in-law, Shirley Peterson; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and son, Greg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Hospice and Stordahl Lutheran Church.
