Donald H. Musty

Donald H. Musty, age 79, of Mazeppa died on Friday evening February 21, 2014 at his home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Father Donald T. Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Mazeppa Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Tuesday for one hour prior to the mass at the church.
Donald Hubert Musty was born on May 25, 1934 in Chester Township, Wabasha County, MN to Francis and Evelyn (nee Goodman) Musty. He grew up in rural Mazeppa and attended country school. He started farming with his father. On September 25, 1956 he entered the U. S. Army. He was honorably discharged on September 24, 1958 and he returned to the family farm. On October 18, 1958 he married Sharon M. Korbel in St. Louis Park, MN. They made their home on the Musty family farm and they farmed together for twenty years. After retiring from farming, Don drove semi for eight years and then worked at Sears and Greenway Co-op. After retiring, Don started making tea pots on his scroll saw. Don was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Mazeppa Veterans Honor Guard and "Portrait Freedom", which duplicates a photographic image of a deceased soldier onto a detailed scrolled woodcarving that becomes a permanent keepsake for the soldier's family. Don also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, fishing and doing other projects on his scroll saw.
Don is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Douglas (Caprice) Musty of Anchorage, AK, Mark (Kong Chu Son) Musty of Seoul, South Korea, Paul (Tamara) Musty of Elgin and Earl Musty of Plainview; grandchildren, Andromeda (Eugenio) Fernandez-Cruzado, Brittney (Ben) White, Chang Musty, Aiden Musty, Jack Musty, Benjamin Musty, Riess Musty, and Patience Musty; great-granddaughter, Madelyn White; sisters, Lenora (Frank) Irwin of Mazeppa and Corinne (Wally) Fletcher of Ham Lake; brother, Walter (friend Joan) Musty of Monticello and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are preferred to Red Wing Home Care and Hospice.
Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
