OBITUARY: Donald H. Lohmann

Funeral services for Donald H. Lohmann will be on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Tom Isaacson and Susan Vikstrom co-officiating. Burial will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 19, 2007 from 3-6 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.


Donald H. Lohmann, age 90, of Zumbrota, died Thursday, August 16, 2007 at his residence. Donald Herbert Lohmann was born on March 6, 1917 on the Lohmann homestead in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County, MN to Edward C. and Mathilda (nee Langsdorf) Lohmann. Growing up on the family farm, he graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1934 and continued farming on the Lohmann family farm. On March 2, 1957 he married Dorothy E. Safe of Vasa. He farmed until retiring and moving to Zumbrota in 2006. Don lived most of his life on the family farm and recently celebrated his 90th birthday and 50th wedding anniversary. He promoted the dairy and farming industry throughout his life, serving as chairman of the Farmers Cooperative Creamery and on the board for North Star Dairy and as a Director on the corporate board of Mid America Dairymen. Don also served as a member of the American Dairy Association, Zumbrota Cemetery Association Board, DHIA, Holstein Association, Goodhue County Dairy Association, 4-H Club, Farm Bureau, Zumbrota 65�50 Club, church council and Zumbrota Lions Club. He enjoyed Vikings and Twins games, fishing, bowling and traveling.
Don is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Zumbrota; three children, Diane Banitt of Red Wing, Dennis (JoMarie) Lohmann of Fountain Hills, AZ and Dean Lohmann of Richfield; four grandchildren, David and Derek Banitt and Sean and Mollie Lohmann. Don was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Howard, Lester, and Harvey Lohmann.
