Donald Richard Hutchson

Donald Richard Hutchson, 84, of Red Wing, died Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Red Wing Health Center. He was born January 2, 1926, in Red Wing, to Harold and Astrid (Palm) Hutchson. He attended school in Red Wing and after high school, enlisted in the US Navy. After being honorably discharged, he attended the Minnesota School of Business. In 1948 he married Shirley Turnbell. He was employed as a machinist for American Hoist and Diereks for 18 years and also had worked at 3M. Shirley died December 28, 2007. He loved to read, do crossword puzzles and fish. He was a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54, Burnson-Lillyblad VFW #1218, the DAV and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by 6 children, James (Yvonne) Hutchson of Ohio, Wanda (Robert) Harrie of Virginia, Timothy (Katherine) Hutchson of Red Wing, Peggy Barker of Virginia, Sharon Hutchson of Red Wing and Judi (Randy) Mickelson of Red Wing; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Lou Thorie of Red Wing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; son, Jeffrey; brother, Robert; a grandson and 5 infant children.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Casketbearers will be Kyle Hutchson, Brandi Veith, Dan Johnson, Brenda Walsh, Katie and Scott Hegseth. Burial with military honors will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
