Obituary Notice Donald Hemmah Donald James Hemmah, 72, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. He was born February 18, 1934 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Robert and Evelyn (Jordahl) Hemmah. After graduating from Cannon Falls High School, he joined the US Air force in August of 1952, serving four years. He stayed in the Reserves for several years and worked for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. On December 27, 1952, he married Jeannette Mehrkens in Red Wing. He joined the Red Wing Fire Department and worked as a fireman and emergency medical technician. On his days off he worked part-time at the Red Wing Correctional Facitly. After retiring from the Fire Department he worked full-time at the Red Wing Correctional Facility. He was a member of the Burnson-Lillyblad VFW #1218, Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54 and the Redman Club. He enjoyed ?going up north?, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by wife, of Red Wing; two children, Dan (Jodie) Hemmah of Red Wing and Debbie (Tim) Anderson of Red Wing; five grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Violet (Dale) Lorenson of Cannon Falls; sister-in-law, Joan Hemmah of Cannon Falls and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Merlan and Vern and one niece and one nephew. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Phillip Ruud officiating. Burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Zachary and Jacob Hemmah, Matthew and Ryan Anderson and Bruce and Brad Hemmah. Honorary pallbearers will be Allison Benway, Mike, Tom, Ron and John Hemmah and Bob Johnson. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service.
