Donald F. Harris

Donald F. Harris, 83, of Red Wing, died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at his home at Deer Crest. He was born January 29, 1933, in Eau Claire, WI to Albert and Nellie Harris. He grew up on a small farm with his parents, four brothers and three sisters. On May 23, 1953 he married the love of his life, Joanne M. Oien, and together they raised two beautiful children, Michael (1955) and Vicki (1957). Don loved to travel with his family. He was an avid golfer, skier and enjoyed many outdoor activities. He spent the majority of his working years as a salesman with Roberts and Farmhouse Foods from Eau Claire, and Reinhart Foods from La Crosse. He was a co-owner in the Hastings Supervalu/County Market/Cub Foods stores. He especially loved being with his family, his two children and their spouses, his six grandchildren and his five great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, and his grandson.
Don is survived by his wife Joanne; son, Michael (Dodie) Harris; daughter, Vicki (Jim) Kirk all from Red Wing; grandchildren, Rebecca (Ryan) Perdue of Maple Grove, Calli (Nick) Sparby of Red Wing, Ben (Katie) Kirk of South St. Paul, Justin Kirk of Red Wing, Kristianna Harris of Red Wing and Franz Harris of Red Wing; 5 great-grandchildren and a brother, Duane (Virginia) Harris of Eau Claire, Wis.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Justin Boeding officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church.
