Donald "Don" Lawrence Brown

Donald "Don" Brown, age 80, of Zumbrota, formerly of Oronoco, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018 at his home. Donald Lawrence Brown was born June 1, 1938 in West Concord, MN to Robert and Esther (Sparrow) Brown. He was raised in West Concord where he graduated from high school in 1956, he was active in sports. On July 14, 1957 he married Judy King in Oronoco where they made their home. Judy died Aug. 2, 2010, after 53 years of marriage. Don worked at Crest Haven Ice Cream in Zumbrota, then for the Rochester Public School System as a custodian, and helped to run Kings Upholstery in Oronoco with his mother-in-law from 1960 until 1990. He finished his working career at Gauthier Industries where he manufactured medical needles for ten years. Golfing was a passion of Don's and he was a long time member of the Pine Island Golf Club. Don also loved to read, making weekly trips to the library. Every year Don enjoyed participating in Gold Rush Days in Oronoco, renting to vendors, and parking cars at his home. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters Kyle (Duane) Erickson of Zumbrota; Lael Taylor of Davenport, FL; and Hope (Donnie) Nisbit of Rochester; his son Mark (Bonnie) of Aitkin, MN; his brother Rollie Brown of Burnsville, MN; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. His parents, his wife Judy, daughter Jill, son-in-law Lenny, three grandchildren, four brothers, and one sister preceded him in death. The family would like to especially thank Seasons Hospice for their dedicated care and support of Don.

Burial will be in Oronoco Cemetery on Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends. Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
